H

HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography)
An analytical technique used to separate, identify, and quantify components in a mixture. In peptide quality control, reversed-phase HPLC is used to measure purity by separating the target peptide from synthesis impurities. Research-grade peptides typically achieve 98%+ HPLC purity.

I

Ipamorelin
A selective growth hormone secretagogue that binds to the GHS-R receptor. Unlike some other GHS peptides, Ipamorelin is studied for its selectivity in stimulating GH release without significantly affecting cortisol or prolactin. Available from 13 Peptides in 5mg and 10mg form.

K

KPV
A tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) derived from the C-terminal region of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Researched for its signaling in anti-inflammatory pathways. Available from 13 Peptides as 5mg lyophilized.

L

Lyophilization (Freeze-Drying)
A dehydration process in which a frozen solution is placed under vacuum, causing the ice to sublimate (transition directly from solid to gas) without passing through a liquid phase. Lyophilization preserves peptide stability for long-term storage. All 13 Peptides products are supplied in lyophilized form.

M

Mass Spectrometry (MS)
An analytical technique that measures the mass-to-charge ratio of ions. In peptide analysis, mass spectrometry confirms molecular identity by verifying that the measured molecular weight matches the theoretical weight calculated from the amino acid sequence.
Melanotan 2
A synthetic cyclic analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone researched for melanocortin receptor binding activity. Available from 13 Peptides as 10mg lyophilized.
MOTS-c
A mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded by the 12S rRNA gene of the mitochondrial genome. MOTS-c is researched for its roles in metabolic homeostasis, AMPK activation, and exercise physiology. Available from 13 Peptides as 10mg lyophilized.

N

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide)
A coenzyme found in all living cells that exists in oxidized (NAD+) and reduced (NADH) forms. NAD+ is essential for cellular energy metabolism, DNA repair, and sirtuin activation. Available from 13 Peptides as 1000mg lyophilized.

P

Peptide
A short chain of amino acids (typically 2-50 residues) linked by peptide bonds. Peptides are distinguished from proteins by their smaller size. In biological systems, peptides function as hormones, neurotransmitters, and signaling molecules. See What Are Research Peptides? for a comprehensive overview.
Peptide Bond
A covalent chemical bond formed between the carboxyl group of one amino acid and the amino group of another, with the release of a water molecule. Peptide bonds form the backbone of all peptides and proteins.
